Delegation of International Young Democrat Union in Parliament

On June 8, the President of the RA National Assembly Ara Babloyan received the delegation of the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU).

Welcoming the youth in the National Assembly the Head of the parliament noted that in October of 2017 a serious achievement had been recorded, when the RPA Youth organization was elected a full member of the International Young Democrat Union in the Meeting held in Brussels.

Ara Babloyan has underlined that he pays great attention to the international cooperation and the membership of the Armenian youth organizations in the unions with the same ideas functioning in the world. In this context the RA NA President has noted that the RPA youth organization is also a member of the European Democrats Association, the European Democrat Youth Community being its organization and other numerous structures.

The Head of the parliament touched upon the government models of the Republic of Armenia, underlining that 27 years ago, at the moment of declaration of independence Armenia was also a parliamentary republic. “We had all state government models. It speaks about the fact that we try to find the best form which allows having the people’s values and go forward and be consonant with the developed and civilized countries,” the NA President said.

The inner-political developments of Armenia also were touched upon. Ara Babloyan has underlined that the important thing is the security of the state, the strengthening of democracy and the provision of the public welfare.

The Head of the parliament also answered the young people’s questions.

The RA NA Vice President Arpine Hovhannisyan also met with the members of the International Young Democrat Union.

The RA NA Vice President highlighted the organization of similar meetings in different international formats and platforms, their participation in different political processes and the exchange of experience.

In response to the young people’s questions, Arpine Hovhannisyan referred to the inner-political developments of Armenia, the prior directions of inner and foreign policy, the regional problems and the peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict.

The delegation is in Armenia to take part in the Meeting of the International Young Democrat Union themed “Democracy in Action.”
